zion 86 hawker gona be gone soon :(

As promised, gona talk about this hawker centre that's full of childhood memories. So sad to hear that it's gona be gone in Sep'06. Initially, they gona upgrade but who knows bcos there aren't many takers, that's why govt. gona tear it down sob sob :(
Most memorable stalls:
Most memorable stalls:
- kway chap
- fried yam cake & mini soon kueh
- 五香
- chee cheong fan
- dessert stall - ice kachang
Unfortunately, kway chap is the only stall that's still around amongst abovementioned. Wanted to eat today during lunch but already closed leh. Super gd biz man! So ended up sharing with my colic 'yee mee' nice too. :) but waited for more than half an hour. My late grandma used to tabao and we just eat that with rice. Simple and nice! ;p Until now, auntie ah kum still does that.
Really really miss the other stalls. Nothing really great about the ice kacang though. Just that I remember we (ah hoon, irene, peck ling, har, yong) used to go there after our 'soccer' session with the big brothers including eddie, ah boy, lao leong, no. 2, & etc. Guess what?? We always aimed their feet whenever we couldn't get the ball whahaha. The auntie still remembers me before she wound up her business this year. Always charged me cheaper for drinks hehe. So whoever goes makan with me would also get the special treatment keke.
It's been a long time since I ate fried teochew kueh. The old stall there's nice. Also, the 五香 stall is very different from the typical one. Liked the luncheon meat with egg and the fried fish yummy.......don't know if they're still in the business and moved to which place. Late grandma used to buy that to pai pai. She also patronized the chee cheong fan stall very frequently for breakfast.
Those were the good old days sigh.......but happy memories ;) Ooopppss forgot about the traditional dessert stall near the toilet. Run by a very old woman.....very traditional & nice 花生糊, 芝麻糊,etc. If still here hor, 'TONG SHUI' sure die haha. One more, fried carrot cake; yong's favourite. It's still around but run by the son now. He still remembers me and always says in hokkien "jing dua han liao hor.... theng ban sway sway han nia." Of cos la u also old liao hehe.
Not forgetting the not so pioneer 'duck stall', I like the duck mee. But it's also gone and don't know to where. All the good food gone sien...ok la think long enough hor, wen? hehe
goodie food!!!!
